Training races and events

I'm taking part in a variety of races and events in the run up to my swim to France. Please feel free to come along and spectate. Be warned though, I (and other competitors no doubt) will be wearing Speedos !!

June 26th 2010 - River Arun 3.8km

This will be a unique chance to swim the River Arun over the Ironman distance of 3.8km. The River Arun runs from Littlehampton and northwards beyond Arundel and Pulborough, West Sussex. The Arun has the second fastest tidal river in the UK so you’re guaranteed a Personal Best! The swim will start from the Ship and Anchor Pub and Marina, just south of Ford Railway Station. There’s good access to a small slipway near the Marina and a nice wide section of river from where to start the race. The exact start time will be dependent on conditions of the river flow and in consultation with the harbour master, who will control the entire stretch down to Littlehampton. The finish will be at the RNLI slipway at the mouth of the river. The start will be during the 30 minute ‘slack’ water period, before the tide starts to turn. ‘May the tide be with you!’ All the usual REP safety cover will be provided, kayaks and mountain bike spotters on the river bank.
